Gratitude

I've found that kids are incredible teachers. They wake up each day with a smile on their face, ready to take on the day. They take delight in the little things. It was snowing, big fluffy flakes, recently. My little boy sat and watched out the window,  mesmerized. He kept saying to me "mommy, this is awesome!" Most adults that same day were moaning and complaining about how it was too early for snow.
I'm incredibly grateful we live in such a beautiful place that experiences all four seasons. Do I tire of winter and the snow?  Of course I do. But, I also tire of the dog days of summer. I love the changes each season brings.
I've been dealing with some post partum emotional ups and downs lately. But, seeing the sheer delight in my son's face at the first snow of the season, I was reminded that attitude is everything. He wakes up each day ready to take on the world. He's not worried about the last time the floor was cleaned or bills or what's for dinner. He's delighted to experience each day. And so I've decided that I'm going to try to approach each day like my kids do - with delight and an eagerness to learn. I'll also silently express my gratitude as they've taught me far more than I can ever teach them.

Waiting for color

I adore our view all of the time. But fall is my favorite. I'm anxiously waiting for the leaves to turn :-)
