Clouds

I swear on days like today it seems like we can see for miles!
I have to reprocess the red bud jelly this week...not gelling up like it should.  It's gotten me kind of hooked on canning, though!

Our shelter pooch

Meet Lakelyn :-)
We adopted Lakelyn last year, right before we moved into the house.  Kole and I visited her often at the shelter before choosing to adopt her.  At the time, she was 3.5 years old.  It seemed as though puppies and younger dogs were getting adopted left and right, but poor old Lakelyn remained.  We brought her home the day after we moved into the house and the day before we found out we were pregnant.  Talk about a lot to digest in a few days!
She has adjusted wonderfully.  Thankfully she was already housebroken and respected being loose on the property.  She goes running often and always returns home to sleep on the floor at the foot of our bed each night.  She loves Kole and Jenna.  She even likes the cats!  We are hopeful she will be kind around our future chicken flock.
And I fully believe a house is not a home without a dog :-)

Apple blossoms

Nothing says spring to me like all the beautiful blossoms on the trees. From the red bud blossoms I posted about yesterday to these apple blossoms, I adore them.
This little tree is beside our driveway. We got some apples off it two years ago, but they got destroyed last year during the derecho. Since it's been there a while, we think it's some sort of older variety of apple :-)

Red bud blossoms

Aren't those blossoms pretty? They are blossoms from an eastern red bud tree.  You can make jelly from these beauties!  Kole and I collected them this morning and tomorrow, we will make jelly!
Once they are rinsed and picked over, I will put them in a jar with some boiling water.  Tomorrow we will strain them for jelly.
Watch tomorrow for how it turns out!

It's been awhile :-)

So much excitement around the house lately!  A new baby, seeds started, and spring.  I see a lot of blog updates in the future :-)
The picture is our repurposed seed starting set up!  I'll give more details soon!
